The David Livingstone Centre.

The birthplace of Scotland's great explorer is now a museum devoted to the man himself. Although set in an urban area, the surrounding
20 acres of parkland, ancient woodlands and river lend the place a sense of being in the country. The centre houses important collections
of Livingstone's personal belongings such as expedition and navigational equipment, diaries and notebooks and even a very famous red shirt.
The David Livingstone Centre is in close vicinity to Bothwell Castle. Walks through the woodland give visitors the chance to see some of the resident
wildlife including owls and foxes.

The David Livingstone Centre is on Station Road, Blantyre and accessible by train, from Glasgow Central to Blantyre Station.

Greenbank Garden

The garden of Greenbank house aims to educated and inspire people on what and how to grow a wide range of unusual plants. The Garden currently
has over 3,700 different plant forms currently on the stock record. Greenbank garden is divided into over 30 domestic sized themed gardens including
seasons, colours and sense. Between December and February visitors are invited to explore the Winter Garden, where many winter flowers come to life.
Between Christmas and New Year, visitors can take in the beauty of  40 different plants that bloom in the garden. Between May and March, flowers such as Daffodils, Rowans, Cherries, Magnolia, also Willows and Hazels.

Greenbank Garden is off Mearns road, Clarkston, Glasgow and accessible by train to Clarkston Station from Glasgow Central Station.


Holmwood House

Designed by Alexander 'Greek' Thomson and considered by many to be a masterpiece, this exquisite villa is situation in the Cathcart area
of Glasgow. Though surrounded by city development it is still an oasis of piece for all who visit it. The house has had a variety of owners
including a society of nuns, before it was given to the National Trust for Scotland. Renovation began on the property in 1994 and continues
to this day, so there is always something new for visitors to see.

Holmwood House is located on Netherlee Road, Cathcart, Glasgow.
Opening times: 30th Marc to 31st October, Mon- Thurs, 12 pm - 5 pm


National Museum of Rural Life

This Georgian farm house contains an exhibit of the furniture and effects of the Reid family that occupied the farm for over 400 years, and has
been declared as one of the most important rural collections in the UK today. The property is still a functioning farm house and contains life stock.

The National Museum of Rural Life is in East Kilbride
Open all year every day between 10am - 5pm, except 25th, 26th, December, 1st, 2nd January.


Geilston Garden

The Garden at Geilston was developed 200 years ago and comprises of a walled garden, a kitchen garden and a woodland with Geilston
burn winding through it. An array of flowers fill the various gardens including daffodils and bluebells.

Geilston Garden is at the west end of Cardeoss, 18 miles North of Glasgow and accessible by train from Glasgow to Helensburgh, Cardross station.
