The Art Works Galleries
The Art Works Galleries is the largest single floor art gallery in the North of England. Just five minutes from Newcastle city centre, the gallery prides itself on being a unique and innovative space to see, buy, display and enjoy art.
The venue consists of two galleries under one roof, The Matt Forster Gallery and the Eye to Eye Gallery. The Matt Forster Gallery exhibits works by 'Painter of the North' and gallery owner Matt Forster.
The Eye to Eye Gallery is an entirely new concept in art, providing a space where constructive dialogue between artists and the public can take place and interests in enjoying and buying art can develop.
Exhibitions at The Art Works Galleries change monthly and showcase works by both established and new artists. Aimed at promoting and encouraging the enjoyment of art, the gallery sells original artwork at affordable prices and also offers visitors the opportunity to leave comments and contact details for any of the featured artists.

Event Summary: Through July and August The Art Works Galleries is exhibiting a fascinating new concept of twining artists of the North and South together to explore the similarities and differences between artwork produced at opposite ends of the country. NE by SW exhibition has been created by the Aurora Project and Devon Artsculture to showcase the talent of artists based in Devon adn the North East on the theme of 'Contemporary Landscape and the Environment'. This lively and engaging exhibition includes photography, painting, ceramica, glass, tectiles and sculptures and showcases the
artists medium, arts practise and style of work from the two different rural areas.
Matt Forster Exhibition

Event Summary: The Art Works Galleries will be exhibiting the latest works by the highly proficient ' Painter of the North' Matt Forster. This exhibition includes Northern landscapes, Mexican doorwars and Egyptian wildlife. The paintings and sketches exhibited are works towards the anticipated M J Forster 2007 Collection which is due to launch this year to celebrate his 10th anniversary as a professional artist.
Focus on the Coast

Event Summary: Challenging the brightest artists to submit a piece of work focused on the coast to compete against one another. Focus on the Coast is the fourth competition held at The Art Works Galleries. This exhibition aims to explore the British coast in all its variations. The public are invited to become an art critic and vote for the best pieve of artwork and the artist who'll recieve the prize.
First Thursday

Event Summary: The First Thursday of each month marks the turn over of a new exhibition at The Art Works Galleries celebrated with a launch night attended by artists and other members of the creative and business community. This month the Eye to Eye gallery welcomes the latest sculptures by Susan Warlock as well as the latest collection of work by Ben Lawson, Jamie Patterson, Brenda Burrell and Katy Crebbin.
Claire and Ian Mcmean Exhibition

Event Summary: Artists, Illustrators and designers, Ian and Claire McMean will be exhibiting a range of work detailing their love for the local landscape and views from their travels around the world. Ian's works is traditional and explores moods and environments of place people want to be. Claire's work explores a contemporary style, using acrylic on canvas she express herself through colour and technique.

Event Summary: On the Second Saturday of every month 'Painter of the North' Matt Forster welcomes members of the public into his studio to receive a hidden insight to his watercolour technique.
