Shopping in Edinburgh


Scotland's capital has much to offer in terms of good old-fashioned retail therapy. The most popular street is Princes Street in the New Town. Lined with department and chain stores it’s undoubtedly the place to venture to if you're looking for the big guns such as Jenners and Harvey Nichols, or well-known brands such as H&M.

Not far from Princes Street is Rose Street with its smaller, more individual shops. The area is a pedestrian zone so it’s a safe place to wander around and lose yourself in shopping delirium. George Street on the other hand tends to have more upscale shops and brands such as Laura Ashley and Waterstones. Antique shops can be found on Dundas street, but if you're looking for boutiques Thistle Street is your destination.

For souvenirs shopping try the Royal Mile it’s dotted with whiskies, tartans and tweeds.

Fort Kinnaird
Fort Kinnaird, Edinburgh is a one stop, shopping destination. Comprising a huge 584,000 square feet, it houses all the top brands such as Gap, Boots, Borders, Next, JJB Sports, PC World, Toys R US, Currys and Odeon Cinemas.
Located on the outskirts of Edinburgh, it is easily accessible by transport links and has 2,275 free parking spaces. With such a wide range of shops, restaurants and facilities, Fort Kinnaird is an excellent shopping and leisure destination.

Ocean Terminal
Located on Edinburgh's waterfront just 10-minutes from the city centre, Ocean Terminal is a unique mix of shopping, leisure and culture.
It has all your favorite high street stores including Top Shop, Shuh, HMV and Debenhams, plus a selection of high-quality restaurants and cafes and an ever-changing programme of events, exhibitions and fun leisure activities. Its greatest attraction however is The Royal Yacht Britannia, which is open to the paying public.

Gyle Shopping Centre
The Gyle Shopping Centre aims to give visitors an enjoyable and memorable shopping experience. It has extended shopping hours, seven days a week, 2,500 free-parking spaces, a food court with excellent restaurants, it’s wheelchair friendly and has a childrens’ play area and creche. For those with young children and babies, there is a baby change room and bottle warming facilities. Among the shops are Body Shop, Boots, Burton Menswear, Clarke's, Dorothy Perkins and Early Learning Centre, to mention a few.
It’s easily accessible by road, rail or bus.
