Celtic Connections music festival returns to Glasgow

The annual Celtic Connections music festival returns to Glasgow in the New Year, giving Glasgow hostel guests the chance to take part in over 300 events celebrating roots, folk and world music and their links to Celtic culture.

Over 2,000 musicians from all across the globe will head to Glasgow for the festival, with venues across the city hosting 18 days of events.

From concerts and ceilidhs, to talks and exhibitions, the Celtic Connections festival will be bigger than ever this year as it reinforces its collaborative nature with many unique line-ups and one-off shows.

Artistic director of the festival Donal Shaw said: "There are situations that you’ll see where people are playing that you’ll never see again, or if you do, it's because it worked here first."

Many of the events will be free as Glasgow parties into the early morning on many a night in January and February.

The Celtic Connections festival runs from January 19th until February 5th. Visit the website for the full programme and to book tickets where required.
