Acclaimed folk duo headline the Sage Gateshead

Staying in a hostel in Newcastle and looking for a great gig? The celebrated folk duo Jonny Kearney and Lucy Farrell are performing on home turf at the Sage Gateshead.

Having first met while studying a folk music degree at Newcastle University, the unlikely duo have gone on to become one of the most talked-about folk acts in the last year.

Supporting Mercury Prize-nominees The Unthanks on a huge tour catapulted Jonny and Lucy into the limelight and after finally releasing their debut album 'Kite' they are now headliners in their own right.

Delicate and delightful songs penned by Kearney offer witty and heart-wrenching kitchen-sink stories that are beautifully illustrated by his guitar and Farrell's fiddle.

Lauren Laverne referred to the duo as "absolutely gorgeous" and it is praise like that which has led them to be nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Best Duo category.

Jonny Kearney and Lucy Farrell play at the Sage Gateshead on April 10th at 8pm. Tickets cost £10.
