Stella! A Streetcar Named Desire driving to Edinburgh

The Scottish Ballet are bringing a production of A Streetcar Named Desire to the Festival Theatre, giving Edinburgh hostel guests the chance to see the award-winning play in a whole new light.

Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning play is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year and in celebration, the Scottish Ballet is bringing its own take on it to the stage.

When Blanche duBois arrives at her sister Stella's apartment in New Orleans looking to escape her troubled former life, all is not what it seems.

Stella's tough husband Stanley thinks that he can see right through her and becomes determined to destroy the new person in his life.

With a score written by the award winning composer Peter Salem the production has a distinct jazz sound which evokes the era in which it is set, the ballet production of A Streetcar Named Desire pushes the boundaries to infuse dance with drama.

Scottish Ballet: A Streetcar Named Desire runs at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre from Wednesday April 18th until Saturday April 21st. Shows start at 7.30pm with a 2.30pm Saturday matinee. Tickets cost between £21.50 and £37.50.
