Newcastle Nightclubs
Howay man! If there’s one thing that we Brits do well, it’s partying. A 2010 survey found that Newcastle had the third best nightlife in Europe. And since that survey was taken more than two years ago, we think it’s about time for a rethink.
We scouted the city for the hottest club venues we could find; the places with the loudest music, the best value for alcohol and the slickest DJs. Places, in short, which would guarantee Newcastle’s rightful title of Best Nightlife in Europe.
From the trendiest bars at Quayside to the underground alternative music scene, those staying at hostels in Newcastle can slip into their best jeans or miniskirts and attend any one of these fantastic club venues.
Riverside
Located in the ultra trendy quayside area of Newcastle, this stylish nightclub scores high when it comes to music, playing only the latest chart, Dubstep and RnB hits. With two rooms, four bars, a VIP lounge and a mezzanine balcony, there’s more than enough variety here, and it gets extremely busy on its three big club nights which means that a buzzing atmosphere is guaranteed.
You’re also spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing your drinks, as Riverside offers a full cocktail menu in addition to a large selection of beers, ciders and alcopops. For a full-on night out, we recommend their Saturday club night, the wickedly-entitled ‘The Voodoo Project’. 1 The Close, Quayside, NE1 SRQ, 0191 230 1813.
Bambu
Famous for its student night Quids In which boasts £1 entry and £1 drinks, Bambu is the sort of place that you can go out to with a tenner and come home with change. And despite this, they manage not to compromise on style or music.
You won’t want to leave the dance floor as their resident DJ blasts out a mix of commercial, cheese and dance that’s sure to please everyone. Whatever it takes to get your feet moving, Bambu has the answer. To start the night right, make sure you get tipsy in their official pre-club bar City Vaults. Units 3&4, Grainger Quarter, NE1 1UW, 0191 261 5811.
