BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art
The landmark industrial building on the south bank of the River Tyne plays host to the BALTIC centre for Cotemporary Art. The biggest gallery of its kind in the world, this spectacular art venue presents a dynamic international programme of visual creativity which is sure to delight and excite any enthusiast.
Be enraptured and astounded by the sheer volume of innovative artistic genius on display here, as visitors are invited to relax, have fun, learn and discover new ideas. The Metro Radio Arena
It's difficult to overstate the size of this incredible music venue, which features 40,000 square feet of exhibition and conference space under one roof. There are hundreds of events showcased here every year, with exciting performances from international music stars as big as Cheryl Cole, George Michael and Nickelback.
But it's not just about the music for the Metro, and upcoming performances from comedian John Bishop, sports expert Jeff Stelling and the Disney on Ice cast, demonstrate this fantastic venue's dedication to all arts.

St Nicholas Cathedral
An absolutely stunning religious venue to visit if you're even slightly spiritual, the Cathedral Church of St Nicholas has existed as Newcastle's principle place of worship for more than 900 years. As a result, it's steeped in the city's history, and people come here for far more than to simply feel closer to God.
Depending on the time of year, the cathedral's calendar may include anything from heritage open days and wine tasting to music concerts and seasonal celebrations. An on-site cafe that sells cards and gifts as well as the standard tea and cakes is perfect for making sure you have a present to take home to your loved ones.

The Sage Gateshead
This pioneering home of musical discovery offers a huge variety of performances and participation projects. Concerts of all types can be heard here, with jazz, world, classical, dance, experimental and popular music being just some of the sounds showcased throughout the year. The 'Join in and make music' programme ensures that nobody is left out, no matter what their age or ability might be.
But it's not just about music, as this fantastic venue also caters for those interested in other art forms. A weekend in November will see the Sage play host to the BBC Radio 3 Free Thinking Festival, an event jam-packed with debate, conversation and performances from leading broadcasters, artists and writers.
