Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Newcastle Upon Tyne

This unique pedestrian and cycle bridge stretching over the river is reminiscent of a giant eye watching over the city. Connecting developments on either side of the river, it opens and closes like an eye-lid to allow river traffic through.
