MTV headed to Glasgow

Music fans may want to think about booking hostels in Glasgow at the end of September as MTV is set to "crash" in the city.

As part of its new MTV Crashes… series, the popular television channel will travel around different locations offering free gigs.

The first show, which is being held in Glasgow, will see rapper P Diddy perform with his band Diddy-Dirty Money at the Old Fruitmarket on September 29th.

Tickets to the concert can be won by entering a competition on the MTV website.

According to MTV, this will be the first time P Diddy – real name Sean Coombs – has performed in the UK for over five years.

Kerry Taylor, senior vice-president of content and creative for MTV Networks UK and Ireland, told Media Week magazine: "Glasgow is the ideal destination for the inaugural gig.

"The city's legendary venues and thriving music scene, combined with the unprecedented kudos that the MTV brand delivers, will make this a gig to remember."

MTV will be filming the event and will broadcast it to 161 different countries.
