Europe comes to Newcastle

Rock music fans staying in Newcastle hostels next February will be delighted to hear that Europe will be playing a gig in the city's O2 Academy.

Following their performance at the iTunes Festival at the end of July, it has been announced that the band will be playing in Newcastle on February 27th.

At the iTunes Festival, Europe played with fellow 80s rockers Foreigner and both groups entertained audiences with their hit singles; the former closing the show with smash hit The Final Countdown.

Although they split in the 90s as members wanted to work on solo projects, the band are now reformed and ready to rock.

Speaking to EyeSpy Rock at the end of last year, front-man Joey Tempest told fans that they can expect a new album in 2011.

He was quoted as saying: "We'll probably come out with an album in 2011 and tour in 2012 again.

"We're looking two to three years ahead all the time, and in the next five years I see Europe with two more albums, two more world tours and hopefully having established ourselves even better in a lot of territories around the world."

Tickets for the gig cost £17.50 and under-14s must be accompanied by an adult.
