Edinburgh to host climbing championships

Edinburgh hostels could be the perfect place for climbers and spectators to rest ahead of the World Youth Championships.

Set to take place between September 9th and 12th, the competition will see some of the best young climbers in the world try to better one another's efforts on the walls.

Scotland's hosting of the competition, at the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena, follows on from France, Australia and Ecuador, which have run the event over the past three years.

Regarded as the premier climbing event for youths and juniors, the competition is sure to attract a great deal of attention.

A total of 300 male and female competitors from the 75 member countries of the International Federation of Climbing are expected to take part.

Youngsters between the ages of 13 and 18 will battle it out for prizes in six different categories.

This will be the first time that the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena has hosted the event.
