Royal Scottish National Orchestra performs annual Christmas concert this December

Those looking to get into the festive spirit in the run-up to Christmas could listen to the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) perform their annual concert in December and then spend the night in Edinburgh hostels.

Christmas carols and music will be conducted by Christopher Bell, the RSNO's chorus master between 1989 and 2002, and will provide an entertaining show full of festive cheer.

The concert will take place at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh just over a week before Christmas Day (December 17th) and tickets for the event are priced between £12 and £32.

For that cost, visitors will also get to see a projection of 1982 film The Snowman with Howard Blake's music to provide further enjoyment.

Susan Nickalls, reviewing a RSNO concert at Usher Hall for The Scotsman in September, said that the group's display had "dynamism and glittering brilliance aplenty".

Talking about the concert, she added: "The orchestra's rousing performance of this popular work augers well for a thrilling season of music-making."
