Edinburgh welcomes fiddle festival to The Village in November

The 2010 fiddle festival will be taking place in Scotland next month and Edinburgh hostels could be ideal for those wishing to head along and see a weekend of performances.

Between November 12th and 14th, the world's finest fiddle festival will be taking place in the Edinburgh Assembly Rooms and will feature some the best musicians in the field.

The Heat Hoose concert will open the event on the Friday evening, including performances from both Shooglenifty and Gabe McVarish.

Saturday's Grand Concert will be the centrepiece of the festival, featuring Harald Haugaard, Twelfth Day and duo Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill.

Hayes and Cahill's new record, Welcome Here Again, was described by The Record in Canada as "the perfect anodyne to the hustle and the bustle, the noise and the agitation that dominates so much of contemporary life".

A number of recitals, workshops and talks will also be taking place on the Sunday and those attending could spend time looking around the city's other attractions.

Tickets for Heat the Hoose and the Grand Concert will cost £18 each.
