Glasgow's annual Christmas lights display date set for next month

With just over a couple of months until this year's festive celebrations, people to see Christmas lights switched on in Scotland may want to book into Glasgow hostels and make a night of it.

The annual event will be held in George Square as local performers entertain crowds of people before the city is illuminated in Christmas decorations.

Tickets are set to be released this Saturday (October 16th) and are expected to sell out in hours. However, those who miss out can still stay in the city and experience Glasgow in its festive glory in the weeks that follow.

As well as carol singing and the big countdown, students from the Dance School of Scotland will be on stage along with the cast from the local pantomime production of Aladdin and the Lazytown Sports Club Team.

A fireworks display will round off the evening as the lights are switched on.

Tickets for the event are free, but there is a £1 fee and a £1.99 fulfilment charge.
