Survival of the Fittest competitors ready to run in Edinburgh

Nearly 3,000 runners will be coming to Scotland this month for the Men's Health Survival of the Fittest series and competitors could recuperate afterwards in Edinburgh hostels.

The 10km event will include an army assault course, ladder climb and water slide as runners battle it out to be crowned the fittest individual on October 17th.

National pride is also at stake, with races also taking part in Nottingham and Cardiff, making it even more important that people finish in the best time they can.

Jim Mee, managing director of Rate Race Events, told allmediascotland.com that the race is an "urban discovery" and an "accessible, fun and totally engaging 10km running format".

He added: "Survival is an urban assault course; it's a totally unique 10k and a brilliant way to see your own city, or someone else's, with some rough and tumble along the way."

Entry for the event – which is also sponsored by Land Rover – is £36.
