Hundreds of runners and walkers to pound the streets of Edinburgh for charity

A Christmas fun run will be taking place in Scotland early next month to raise money for charity and a night in Edinburgh hostels could help participants recuperate.

The Edinburgh Christmas 5K Fun Run will see hundreds of people pounding the streets of the capital at 9.30am on December 5th as part of the annual Challenge Scotland race.

Runners will begin their 5,000 metre charge in Inverleith Park, heading into the streets of Edinburgh before finishing in the same place as where they started.

For those that would prefer a gentler stroll, a six mile charity walk will be taking place at 11am from the same location before the trail heads through the delightful settings of the Royal Botanic Garden.

Entry fees for both events are £10 for adults and £5 for OAPs, under-18s and the unemployed.

Challenge Scotland organises a number of charity events in Edinburgh every year, including the Run for Scotland which will take place in June 2011 and people wishing to take part could stay on and explore the city further.
