Award-winning Scottish artwork exhibits in Glasgow this month

Paintings, sculptures and other pieces of artwork by Scottish artists are being exhibited over the next two weeks and those that would like to see award-winning art could stay in Glasgow hostels and attend a viewing.

The 149th Annual Exhibition is being held at the Mitchell Library between tomorrow (November 9th) and November 20th and will feature over 300 works from different artists.

Originally established in 1861 to showcase the work of living artists, the event has continued since and is still proving to be popular today.

Last month, the Royal Glasgow Institute Of The Fine Arts announced the 16 winners of prestigious awards for works that are now featured in the exhibition.

Paul Kennedy won the David Cargill Award for his painting Momentary and he told the Evening Times that the work represents his childhood.

"It is about long summers when the time never seemed to pass, then before we know it, we are well into adulthood and it only seems like a moment when you look back," he told the news provider.

Tickets to see this and the other items on display are priced at £2.
