Batman heads to Newcastle to stunt rivals' progress live on stage

Batman fans could stay in Newcastle hostels next year after it was announced that the costumed crime-fighter will heading to the north-east next year in a multi-million pound theatrical performance.

The Metro Radio Arena stage will be transformed into Gotham City, Wayne Manor, the Batcave and Arkham Asylum between July 27th and July 31st as the world's most popular superhero is brought to life.

The show will be based on the original story of Batman and his sidekick Robin as they battle with enemies including the Joker and Catwoman.

Fans will be able to see one of the first shows ever to be performed, before it tours the rest of Europe and North America.

Nick Grace, who works for Water Lane Productions, the company creating the show, said that it will entertain people of all ages.

"Batman Live will be a totally unique experience. This is not a musical but a high quality live show with a thrilling Batman story, filled with action, that will appeal to adults, teenagers and families," he said.

Tickets will cost between £20 and £45 and go on sale this Friday (November 12th).
