Iron Maiden set to play Glasgow gig next year

Glasgow hostels could provide the ideal place to rest for visitors to next year's Iron Maiden gig in the city.

The heavy metal legends have announced the dates for a UK-wide tour in 2011 and are set to play the SECC on July 20th.

Formed in 1975, Iron Maiden have achieved phenomenal success during their career, selling 80 million albums worldwide and performing around 2,000 gigs.

The group's latest album, The Final Frontier, was released in August this year and reached number one in 30 different countries.

Visitors to the gig will be able to hear all the band's classic tracks including Run to the Hills, The Number of the Beast and Flight of Icarus.

The current Iron Maiden line-up includes vocalist Bruce Dickinson, bassist Steve Harris, drummer Nicko McBrain and guitarists Adrian Smith, Dave Murray and Janick Gers.

Tickets for the show go on sale on November 20th.
