Hawkwind to play Newcastle gig in December

Fans of British rock group Hawkwind could book into Newcastle hostels following the band's gig in the city next month.

The stars are set to perform live at the Newcastle O2 Academy on December 5th and visitors will be able to hear a range of Hawkwind's earlier classics and later material.

Tracks such as Silver Machine, Urban Guerrilla and Hurry On Sundown will fill the arena, as well as numbers from their 2010 record Blood of the Earth.

Hawkwind first formed in 1969 and have since undergone a number of incarnations, changing their musical direction numerous times during an illustrious career.

In 2000, around 30 past and present members played the group's hits under the collective name of the Hawkestra at Brixton Academy.

The current line-up includes vocalist Dave Brock, drummer Richard Chadwick, bassist Mr Dibs, Tim Blake on the theremin and guitarist Niall Hone.

Tickets for the show are still available for £20 excluding booking fee.
