AMA artist of the year Justin Bieber to perform in Newcastle next March

Teenage pop sensation Justin Bieber is heading to the north-east early next year as he tours the UK and those wanting to see him perform could stay in Newcastle hostels.

The 16-year-old singer, whose latest album My World 2.0 reached number one in both the US and Canada, will be playing to fans at the Metro Radio Arena in the city on March 12th.

Later this week, the Canadian will be releasing an acoustic album version of his debut record My World in the US, which will also include a new song called Pray.

His success continued last night (November 21st) after he was named artist of the year at the American Music Awards (AMA), beating Eminem, Lady Gaga and Usher in the process.

After the ceremony, Bieber said it was all the more remarkable as he was competing against artists he had listened to as he grew up.

"Truly I don't know how this is possible because I've been singing Eminem since I was three and Usher is my mentor. So this is big."

Tickets for the Newcastle show are priced between £34.95 and £40.50.
