The Stranglers perform golden oldies and newer songs in Glasgow next March

English rock band The Stranglers will continue their resurgence on the music scene when they head to Scotland next year and fans of the group can stay in Glasgow hostels and see them perform live.

The O2 Academy will play host on March 5th as Jean-Jacques Burnel, Baz Warne, Jet Black and Dave Greenfield sing some classic hits along with newer songs they have composed.

Though the exact details are unknown at the moment, the UK tour could also coincide with the release of a new studio album, which would become their nineteenth.

The band's first record, Rattus Norvegicus, reached number four in the charts but still remains popular today.

In a review of the album for the BBC website last year, Chris Jones said that the music was both "deeply confrontational and musically accomplished".

He added: "Thirty years on the non-PC aspects seem doubly crass, but the tunes remain paramount examples of the perfect mix of old and new from the first summer of hate."

Tickets to see the group are priced at £23 plus a booking fee.
