The Wombats to bring catchy tunes to Edinburgh in UK tour gig

Indie rock band The Wombats will be celebrating the launch of their second studio album with a UK tour that could see Edinburgh hostels used as overnight accommodation.

This Modern Glitch is set to be released in February next year and the band will be playing songs from the record at the HMV Picture House in Edinburgh on March 7th.

Though none of the band's first singles reached the top ten of the UK charts, their upbeat and catchy tones impressed a number of critics.

Moving to New York, their first single, peaked at number 13 and was used in the end credits of hit E4 show The Inbetweeners.

David McGuire, reviewing A Guide To Love, Loss and Desperation for the BBC when it was released in 2007, said that other singles get people up and dancing.

"Let's Dance To Joy Division is one of the catchiest songs released this year and Kill the Director forces anyone listening to jump on the nearest lamppost and wail with delight," he wrote.

Tickets to see them in Edinburgh cost £15.75 including a booking fee.
