People visiting Edinburgh's Hogmanay festival should 'take time to explore'
People looking to book into Edinburgh hostels for the upcoming New Year's celebrations should "take time to explore the closes and wynds of the Old Town" in addition to the elegant streets of the New Town.
That is according to Frances Sutton, press manager for Edinburgh's Hogmanay festival, who added that Edinburgh is an ideal city to visit all year round, but particularly over Christmas because of its "welcoming atmosphere".
She also recommended that those attending the New Year festival should wear comfortable footwear because of the exploring that can be done.
This year's Hogmanay festival will feature special guest Billy Bragg, Street Party and Midnight Moment along with a Torchlight Procession.
Furthermore, the event's programme says that along with fireworks, the four-day event, which takes place from December 30th to January 2nd, will be offering literature, sport, music and poetry.
Ms Sutton added that those visiting the city will find a warm welcome whatever time they visit.
She said: "Edinburgh is a great city to walk around and explore whatever the time of year – and there's always a warming tot of whisky to warm the coldest nights."
