Russell Watson brings 'richness and vibrancy' to Newcastle show next year

English tenor Russell Watson will be performing songs from his new album La Voce in the north-east next year and those lucky enough to have tickets could consider staying in Newcastle hostels.

The 44-year-old, who has recently recovered after having a brain tumour removed, will be singing from his vast catalogue of hits at Newcastle City Hall on April 9th, bringing his operatic brilliance to the stage.

He has released nine albums since being discovered while singing the English national anthem at the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final in 1999, with La Voce released in November.

Reviewing the record for the BBC, Adrian Edwards said that Watson "adapts his voice to suit the different styles" that he requires.

He wrote: "Watson's voice is now stronger, and he has a richness and vibrancy throughout his range.

"This is heard at its best in the first song, Parla Piu Piano (Love Theme from The Godfather), with words set in Italian."
