Food 'one of Edinburgh's premiere attractions'
Edinburgh hostels could be a good option for those planning on visiting the city to sample some culinary delights.
Research by VisitBritain found that food is Scotland's top attraction, with 89 per cent of visitors saying eating out was their key activity, reports Herald Scotland.
Across the country, there are now 15 Michelin-starred restaurants, several of which are in Edinburgh.
William Macleod, a director of the Scottish Tourism Forum, told the news provider: "Generally speaking the standard of food is improving, both from the excellence of raw produce to the increasing capability of chefs at all levels and improving service.
"Not only do we have the Michelin-starred chefs of this world, we also have good cooks and chefs in our pubs and everyday restaurants."
Other attractions found to be popular with tourists visiting Edinburgh were sightseeing and clothes shopping.
One Michelin-starred restaurant in Edinburgh is The Kitchin, which is run by Tom Kitchin.
