Glasgow to exhibit China 'through a lens'
Glasgow hostels could be ideal for those planning on visiting a new exhibition in the city about China.
China Through the Lens of John Thomson is due to open on February 4th in the Burrell Collection.
Mr Thomson was born in Scotland in the 19th century and is considered one of the pioneers of photojournalism.
His forthcoming exhibition is due to showcase images he produced while travelling in China between 1868 and 1872.
A statement from the museum said: "At that time, foreign travel was much more arduous and rare … and photography was still in its infancy, requiring a cumbersome mass of equipment.
"But Thomson, with energy and perseverance, captured a wide variety of images … that give us an extraordinary insight into the everyday life and people of 19th century China."
The exhibition is on loan from the Wellcome Library in London. It is free to attend and will run until June 12th.
