Newcastle to showcase Northern Clay

Those planning to stay in Newcastle hostels may be interested in finding out more about clay and pottery in a new exhibition.

Northern Clay is due to open on May 3rd and will run until the 14th. The two-week event is part of the national craft and design month.

Over the course of the exhibition there will be a number of events and demonstrations taking place, ending with a Mad Potter's Tea Party where the 13 participating artists and members of the public with display the objects they created over the two weeks.

Andrew Harding, co-ordinator of the artists, told journallive.co.uk: "This exhibition shows how the wonderful world of clay is interpreted so differently by each artist.

"Between the 13 ceramicists exhibiting there is a huge variety of styles and types of work."

The exhibition is being held to celebrate clay work in the north east of England. It is being held in the Newcastle Arts Centre.
