Glasgow 'committed' to high-speed rail link
Those planning to stay in Glasgow hostels in the future may be able to take advantage of a new high-speed rail link planned for the city.
Scottish secretary Michael Moore has said that the government is "committed" to the high-speed rail network that would extend as far as Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Tom Greatrex, from the opposition, claimed that that the coalition government has been sending out conflicting messages over plans to extend the rail link into Scotland.
STV quotes him as saying: "Could you please clear this up and put on the record your support for High Speed 2 being extended to Edinburgh and Glasgow."
Mr Moore is reported to have replied: "I am absolutely a passionate supporter of high-speed rail coming to Scotland, as indeed is the Transport Secretary and the rest of the Cabinet."
The proposed line would cost an estimated £30 billion and would slash journey times from London to Scotland by an hour.
