Dali masterpiece returns to Glasgow

Art fans staying in Glasgow hostels may be pleased to hear that a priceless masterpiece by Salvador Dali has been returned to the city.

Christ of St John of the Cross had been on loan to the High Museum in Atlanta since August, however it has now been returned to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, reports the Evening Times.

George Redmond, chairman of Glasgow Life, the organisation that runs the city's museums, told the news provider: "This painting has been missed but we have learned much about the significance of it in Dali's body of work.

"When it returns to Kelvingrove it will have a new home and a new display, which will reflect our greater knowledge of this masterpiece."

The painting will be returned to the gallery next month.

Christ of Saint John of the Cross was completed in 1951. It is a depiction of Jesus Christ on the cross floating over a body of water with a boat and fishermen.
