Pete Doherty set to perform in Newcastle

Newcastle hostels could be an ideal place to rest after seeing Pete Doherty play in the city.

The former Babyshambles frontman will be playing in the O2 Academy Newcastle on May 17th.

This is the singer's first solo tour since reforming the Libertines last year, when the band played at the Reading and Leeds festival.

Tickets for the concert cost £18 excluding booking fee. Anyone under the age of 21 will have to show identification at the venue to purchase alcohol.

Fans of Doherty may be interested to hear that that troubled musician is set to star in Confession d'un Enfant du Siecle, a French film based on the 19th century poet Alfred de Musset.

He stars alongside Charlotte Gainsbourg in the movie, which is directed by Sylvie Verheyde.

Speaking about his role, Doherty said: "My character must display natural grace and poise - as was expected of a young aristocrat and dandy of 1830s French society."
