Edinburgh Castle to reveal Humanity in War

Edinburgh hostels could prove popular with those planning to visit a new photography exhibition set to open in the city's castle.

Humanity in War is due to open in the National War Museum in Edinburgh Castle on February 25th.

The exhibition will reveal images of warfare from the past 150 years, from the American Civil War up to modern day conflicts.

It has been put together by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), with the images on show selected from the charity's archives.

Geoff Loane, the ICRC's head of mission for the UK, told The Scotsman: " The idea behind the exhibition was to provide a testimony to what war looks like … The pictures reflect the power of humanity - given the level of inhumanity in a war zone."

"We wanted to show this to as wide an audience as possible to demonstrate that it's still taking place and still going on."

Entry to the exhibition is free with admission to Edinburgh Castle.
