Edinburgh set for royal photography exhibition

Hostels in Edinburgh could be ideal for those planning to attend a new photography exhibition showcasing images of the royal family.

Marcus Adams: Royal Photographer opened in The Queen's Gallery in Edinburgh on February 25th.

The exhibition contains over 100 images of the royal family and it is being held in celebration of Adams, who has been widely acclaimed for his photographic portraits of children.

A statement from the gallery website said: "Marcus Adams presented a fresh, natural and vibrant view of royalty, overturning the long tradition of formal portraiture.

"Among the exhibition highlights is a series of photographs of Her Majesty The Queen when she was just seven months old - these are taken from Princess Elizabeth’s first-ever sitting with Marcus Adams on December 2nd 1926."

The exhibition is due to run until June 5th. An accompanying book to the exhibition is available from the Royal Collection's online shop and costs £9.95.
