Newcastle's Tyneside cinema to celebrate 40th anniversary of Get Carter

Film fans planning to stay in Newcastle hostels may enjoy attending an event to mark the 40th anniversary of the iconic British film Get Carter.

Originally released in 1971, Mike Hodge's film stars Michael Caine as Jack Carter, a London gangster who travels to Newcastle to investigate the mysterious circumstances of his brother's death.

To mark the seminal film's anniversary, the Tyneside Cinema will be putting on special screenings of Get Carter, as well as a special tour of locations used in the film.

On March 13th, Tyneside Cinema and Tyne Idols tours will hold a special tour that takes attendees on a Routemaster bus to show them legendary locations in which iconic scenes from the Get Carter took place.

The cinema will also be hosting a special gala screening of the movie, in which Mike Hodge will be in conversation with writer Michael Chaplin before the film is shown and will also be taking questions from the audience.
