Edinburgh set for royal wedding

Fans of the royal family may want to consider staying in Edinburgh hostels this summer because it has been confirmed that Zara Philips and Mike Tindall will be marrying in the city.

Buckingham Palace has announced that the couple will marry Canongate Kirk in the Royal Mile on Saturday July 30th.

Following the wedding, the bride and groom will hold the reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, which is the Queen's official home in Scotland.

Mike Cantlay, chairman of VisitScotland, told Herald Scotland that tourism in the city will be bolstered by this announcement.

He is quoted as saying: "The wedding of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall is wonderful news for Edinburgh and the whole of Scotland. It's a great opportunity for tourism in this country and we would urge businesses to take advantage of this great occasion."

Reverend Neil Gardner, minister of Canongate Kirk, said: "I look forward to working with them in the planning and preparation for their special day."
