Eels set to play Newcastle gig

Fans of the Eels may like to stay in hostels in Newcastle after seeing the band play in the city.

The group is set to perform in the O2 Academy Newcastle on July 11th and tickets cost £21 excluding booking fee.

This event is one of three UK headline dates the band will be performing. They will also play a number of festivals during the summer, including Glastonbury, T In the Park and Oxegen.

Eels released two albums last year - End Times and Tomorrow Morning - and those attending the Newcastle gig will be treated to songs from these, along with the band's classic hits.

The American rock band was formed in 1995 by singer/songwriter Mark Oliver Everett, who is better known as E.

Their first studio album, Beautiful Freak, featured a number of hits, including Novocaine for the Soul, Your Lucky Day in Hell and My Beloved Monster, which featured on the soundtrack of the DreamWorks movie Shrek.
