Scottish glass on show in Glasgow
Tourists staying in Glasgow hostels may enjoy attending an exhibition that showcases Scottish glass.
Scottish Glass is free to attend and will be running at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.
Last year marked the 400th anniversary of glassmaking in Scotland and the exhibition has been put on to mark this event.
The exhibition showcases over 70 pieces of glass that have been drawn from the extensive collection of Glasgow Museums'.
Among the exhibits are early bottles, Venetian-inspired glass, fine engraved glass and late 20th century art pieces. There will also be a collection of paperweights.
A statement from the museum said: "Showcasing works by key manufacturers and artists working in Scotland, from the early 18th century to the present day … Scottish Glass is a long-term display that will be open until summer 2012."
The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum was first opened by Sir John W Simpson and E J Milner Allen in 1901.
