Glasgow set for Ovid's Metamorphoses

Literary buffs staying in hostels in Glasgow could attend a production of Ovid's Metamorphoses.

The production is being staged by Pants on Fire, for which the company has won a number of awards.

In 2010, it was honoured with the Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award and the Whatsonstage Editors Award.

Regarding the production, a theatre statement said: "Blending puppetry, projection, live original music and song, gasmasks and a gramophone, Ovid's Metamorphoses is an exploration of man's inextricable link with nature and the universe.

"At a time when the earth is beginning another metamorphosis and humankind finds itself on the brink of change, these prescient ancient myths strike a poignant chord."

Ovid's Metamorphoses will take place at the Tron Theatre and tickets to the event cost between £7 and £15.

Ovid completed Metamorphosis in 8AD. It is a narrative poem made up of 15 books that describes the history of the world.
