The Sound of Music set for Newcastle stage

Tourists who are planning to stay in hostels in Newcastle may enjoy attending a performance of The Sound of Music.

A production of the musical will be performed at the Theatre Royal on a number of dates between September 29th and October 1st.

Prices for the show cost between £14.50 and £40.50.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's 1959 production follows Maria, who leaves her life at a convent to become the governess of the Von Trapp family, which is headed by a widowed naval officer.

The Newcastle show will star Connie Fisher, who shot to fame after being discovered on Lloyd Webber's talent show How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?

Those attending will be treated to the classic hits from the musical, such as Sixteen Going on Seventeen, My Favourite Things and the title track.

The Sound of Music was adapted into film in 1965 and starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
