Edinburgh theatre to hold special exhibition for the Great Lafayette

Magic fans staying in hostels in Edinburgh may want to think about attending a new exhibition about The Great Lafayette.

According to the BBC, the Edinburgh Festival Theatre is to host a special exhibition marking the 100th anniversary of the magician's death.

Sigmund Neuberger, otherwise known as The Great Lafayette, was killed in a fire in the Edinburgh Empire on May 9th 1911.

The fire started after a gas lamp was knocked over. The Great Lafayette was one of 11 killed in the blaze.

To mark the anniversary, the Edinburgh Festival Theatre - which is located on the site where the Edinburgh Empire once stood - is hosting a weekend of events, including an exhibition of memorabilia.

The theatre will also host an evening by fellow magician Paul Daniels and a seance.

Following his death, The Great Lafayette was buried next to his beloved dog Beauty, which was given to him by Harry Houdini.
