Jools Holland to play in Newcaslte

Music fans may want to think about staying in hostels in Newcastle after seeing Jools Holland perform in the city.

The pianist will be playing with his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra at Newcastle City Hall on December 21st and 22nd. Tickets for the event cost either £28.50 and £34.50 excluding the booking fee.

Holland, who found fame as the founding member of British pop band Squeeze, is perhaps best known for his BBC TV show, Later With Jools Holland, which has run since 1992.

The 53-year-old formed The Jools Holland Big Band in 1987. At first it consisted of himself and fellow Squeeze band member Gilson Lavis. It eventually became an 18-piece Rhythm & Blues Orchestra.

Holland recently visited Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen at a reception to celebrate young people in the performing arts.

Other celebs attending the event included Sheila Hancock, Dame Helen Mirren, Kevin Spacey and Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis.
