EIFF taking over Edinburgh in June

Movie aficionados may want to stay in Edinburgh hostels while enjoying one of Scotland's biggest film festivals next month.

The Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) takes place between June 15th and 26th and will be showing the first public screenings of Andre Ovredal's monster 'moc-doc' Troll Hunter, The Divide by Xavier Gens and David Hare's Page Eight starring Bill Nighy and Rachel Weisz.

The 65th EIFF boasts a total of 47 UK and international premieres in its schedule, as well as 22 documentary premieres including one from the legendary James Marsh.

In total, there will be 90 features and a number of shorts screened across the city, with The Guard – featuring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle – opening the proceedings on June 15th.

Short films are sponsored by Nokia this year, with master-classes from award-winning filmmakers.

There will also be retrospectives programmed by guest curators, including Derek Jarman's The Last of England and The Angelic Conversation, selected by Gus Van Sant.
