Geordie Shore is 'good for Newcastle'

Fans of reality TV may want to think about staying in Newcastle hostels after seeing new series Geordie Shore.

This is because, according to show producers at MTV, the programme paints the city in a favourable light, reports the BBC.

Kerry Taylor, MTV UK's director of TV, told the news provider: "We feel that visually we've made Newcastle look really good.

"[It makes Newcastle] look like a really vibrant place with a fantastic social scene."

Ms Taylor added that although the show is not trying to represent the north east of England, she feels that some of the qualities that come across in the characters give a positive perception of the area.

"Their warmth, their sense of loyalty to each other and their sense of humour - are really admirable qualities and I think that's a really positive perspective on the north-east," she is quoted as saying.

Geordie Shore first aired on May 24th this year. It is a spin off of American show Jersey Shore.
