Tyneside church to hold photography exhibition

Tourists planning to stay in hostels in Newcastle may like to check out a new photography exhibition that celebrates weddings over the years.

St James' Parish Church in Benwell, Newcastle is set to host the exhibition, which opens on Saturday (June 18th), reports chroniclelive.co.uk.

The exhibition is being held to mark the 180th anniversary of the church. Organisers asked locals to dig out their wedding photographs.

In total, around 170 images will be on display as part of the exhibit.

Judith Green, community researcher and development worker, told the news provider: "Whatever the decade everyone has photographs from their wedding and so we decided to create an exhibition along these lines.

"The pictures are really fascinating and it's great to see how the fashions and hairstyles have changed over time."

When St James' Church first opened, the area was largely rural, with a number of farms and private estates there.
