Location close to Edinburgh set to host air show

Aeroplane fans who are planning a stay in hostels in Edinburgh may be interested in checking out a forthcoming air show.

Airshow 2011 will be taking place on July 23rd at the National Museum of Flight, which is located just 20 miles east of Edinburgh.

One of the highlights of the day will be a North American OV 10 Bronco, which was designed for use as an airborne forward air control aircraft for use in Vietnam.

This aircraft weighs 3,127 kg and its maximum speed is 281 mph. A statement from the museum described the role of the Bronco.

It said: "It was extremely successful in its designed role, combining an ability to loiter at slow speeds and low altitude with a high speed dash and light attack capability in its own right.

"The very noticeable large canopy was essential to its task, providing unmatched visibility in the often hazy conditions of the Vietnam Jungle."

Early bird tickets are available. Adult prices are £16 in advance or £19 on the day.
