Edinburgh set to reveal portraits of the queen
People who are staying in city centre accommodation in Edinburgh may like to check out a new exhibition revealing portraits of Queen Elizabeth II.
The Queen Art & Image is due to open at the Scottish National Gallery on Saturday (June 25th) and it will remain there until September 18th.
Tickets for the exhibition cost £7 for adults and entry for those with concessions will be £5.
A statement from the gallery said: "The exhibition examines the dialogue between traditional royal portraiture and the informal approach of the mass-media. The resulting transition from formality to familiarity underpins her portrayal by a range of contemporary artists who have challenged tradition.
"Collectively these images reveal radical changes in the way Queen Elizabeth II has been depicted and perceived."
The exhibition is being held to celebrate the diamond jubilee of the queen, who came to the throne in 1952.
On show will be formal portraits, images from the media and works by contemporary artists, amongst others.
