Glasgow to host Davis Cup

Tennis fans may want to think about booking up rooms in Glasgow hostels as the Davis Cup will be held in the city later this year.

It has been announced that the Davis Cup will be held in the Braehead Arena from September 16th to the 18th.

Scottish first minister Alex Salmond welcomed the decision, saying: "This means a top-class tournament will be coming back to a top-class venue, to play in front of some top-class fans."

The competition, run by the International Tennis Federation, is the premier international team event in men's tennis.

A three-day ticket to the event costs £55 for an adult and £20 for a child, however concessions are available for British Tennis Members and for group bookings.

Adult day tickets cost £27. For each adult ticket purchased, visitors can claim a free ticket for a child aged below 16.

The Davis Cup was first held in 1900 as a competition between Britain and the US. Teams from 137 nations were entered into the competition in 2007.
