Edinburgh tourists invited to 'touch gold'

Gold fans who are preparing to stay in hostels in Edinburgh may enjoy a new exhibition being held in the city.

Touching Gold: Jacqueline Mina will open at The Scottish Gallery on August 5th and it will run until September 3rd.

Mina is one of the most significant goldsmiths working in the UK and in 2000 she was awarded the Jerwood Applied Arts Prize for Jewellery.

A statement from the gallery said: "A recent retrospective ... brought together a selection of her work spanning her entire career to the present day.

"It included pieces that are still regarded as seminal today, ground breaking pieces for contemporary practice in precious metal ... we are delighted to present a collection of recent and entirely new work, including previously unseen pieces."

Another exhibition being held at the gallery over August, which art fans may like to attend, is New Paintings by Elizabeth Blackadder.

The Scottish painter was the first woman to be elected to both the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Academy.
