Expert reveals 'relaxing escapes' in Edinburgh for festival attendees

City centre accommodation in Edinburgh will no doubt be packed full during the city's Festival.

With so much to do and see, people staying in Edinburgh hostels may find they need to take some time out and relax before seeing even more shows.

Claudia Monteiro, writing for the Guardian, has revealed some of the best "relaxing escapes" in the city.

She suggests the Victorian Baths at Portobello Beach, which is located 20 minutes from the city centre.

The swimming pool there has recently been refurbished and visitors can also chill out in the Turkish baths, steam room or plunge pool.

Another option could be the medieval village Dean. Ms Monteiro wrote: "A postcard-like conglomeration of mews, cottages and mill buildings dotted around the lush banks of the Water of Leith, this time-warp is only 15 minutes' walk from the West End.

"Enter the path via the fashionable neighbourhood of Stockbridge and go all the way to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art."
